I recently was on the phone with a person from Medicare to report a claim.  The Medicare person asked what injuries I needed to report for the client.  When I told her that my client had soft tissue injuries, she said “that’s not an injury”.  She could not be more wrong.  A muscle/ligament strain/sprain is a legitimate medical diagnosis.  Ask any doctor.  Strains and sprains can heal up quickly or they can have lingering symptoms for years.  Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not an injury.  Wait until you see person who can’t turn their head, can’t touch their toes, can twist, turn or bend.

To quote from WebMD:

Muscle strain, muscle pull, or even a muscle tear refers to damage to a muscle or its attaching tendons. You can put undue pressure on muscles during the course of normal daily activities, with sudden heavy lifting, during sports, or while performing work tasks.

Muscle damage can be in the form of tearing (part or all) of the muscle fibers and the tendons attached to the muscle. The tearing of the muscle can also damage small blood vessels, causing local bleeding, or bruising, and pain caused by irritation of the nerve endings in the area.
