Oregon law requires cyclists to obey the same rules of the road as drivers of motor vehicles per Oregon Revised Statute 814.400. This is important to remember when you are riding your bicycle. If you have the unfortunate experience of getting in to an accident with a car, the driver will often say that the cyclist was not obeying the rules. Many people in cars may have had a negative experience with a person riding a bike and are not going to step up to the plate and admit they did something wrong. The Oregon Bicyclist Manual is a very helpful tool for providing guidance on to how to navigate safely on the roads.
